The MSN Degree is awarded by the GW School of Nursing and a "Post Graduate Certificate in Midwifery" is awarded by Shenandoah University. The Nurse-Midwifery Program at Shenandoah University is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education.
Nurse midwifery content focuses on the nurse-midwifery management process in women’s health and primary care throughout the lifespan, antepartal, perinatal, postpartal, and neonatal care and role development. More than 720 hours of clinical experience are offered in all aspects of the midwifery process in a wide variety of ambulatory and community sites, including rural and medically underserved health care settings.
Students in our MSN program complete the coursework online via distance education and any required clinical practicum rotations in their local community with faculty mentoring. There are full-time and part-time enrollment options in the MSN Concentration in Nurse Midwifery.
